Letterboxing Guide

Thank you so much for signing up to letterbox with the Peter George campaign. By dropping campaign materials into the letterboxes of Franklin, you are helping spread the independent movement through the community. It’s something you can do flexibly, on your own time, in your own way.

We’ve found that people are responding really well to learning about Peter and what he stands for. There’s real excitement about the opportunity to have a true independent voice in Franklin who speaks for them.

How to letterbox

  1. Locate your nearest Letterbox Hub

The hub is a place where bundles of flyers and maps are held for pick-up.

  • For people on the Eastern Shore: 70 Rosny Esplanade, Rosny
  • For people in Southern Franklin/Kingborough: 43 Roslyn Avenue, Kingston Beach

2. Visit your local hub and pick up a bundle of flyers and the corresponding map.

Please note: The hubs are in secure boxes out the front of supporters’ houses. Please be respectful and avoid disturbing supporters more than necessary when collecting flyers.

If the hubs have run out of flyers, please let us know at campaign@petergeorgeforfranklin.com and patiently wait while we restock.

3. Distribute your flyers to the letterboxes in the area outlined on the map.

You can do this while walking your dog, listening to your favourite podcast, or chatting with friends!

4. When finished, return the map to the hub &/ contact us to confirm, as per the map instructions.

We will then mark that area off our master map!

FAQ

Do I have to follow ‘No Junk Mail’ stickers?

By law, these stickers are intended to prevent advertising material. However, political information relevant to the upcoming election is exempt. You are legally allowed to place campaign materials in the letterbox. That said, feel free to use your discretion. If you feel uncomfortable, it’s completely fine to skip that house.

What do I do if I run out of flyers for my area?

Flyers have been allocated with the precise science of “guesstimation,” so you may not have exactly the right amount. If you have extras, please return them to your local hub. If you need more, visit your hub to check for spares. If there aren’t any, don’t stress — let us know at campaign@petergeorgeforfranklin.com, and we’ll restock the area. Alternatively, you can swing by campaign HQ at the Old Merc and pick up more.

I’m not quite sure where I’m supposed to go / My map is unclear.

Sometimes the maps can be a little confusing. Try entering a street from your map into Google Maps and do your best to follow the most likely route. Keep track of where you go so we can ensure we’re not doubling up. Small deviations are totally fine, as long as you let us know.

What about rural areas?

We have found the most effective way to reach Franklin’s rural members of the electorate is via an Auspost mailout.  So we have concentrated our letterboxing efforts on metro areas.

Do you live on a main arterial road, 4 ways traffic light intersection, a traffic light 'T' intersection or a roundabaout or a bus route?

If so will you host a corflute sign on your fence or in your front garden ?

It's a huge contribution.

If you do - our team of volunteers will deliver and install a corflute sign.

We'll also come and take it down after the election.
