was needed that Tasmanian waters are no place for industrial salmon, then news that\u00a0in just 4 months, a total of 5,300\u00a0kg\u00a0of florfenicol\u00a0were\u00a0used in diseased\u00a0fish\u00a0pens\u00a0is proof in plenty.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">By comparison,\u00a0Norway\u2019s\u00a0industry\u00a0is\u00a0up to\u00a020 times bigger\u00a0but uses a mere 750kg in\u00a0a\u00a0whole\u00a0year.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Tasmanians have every right to be outraged that more than five tonnes of the antibiotic,\u00a0florfenicol, were dumped in diseased salmon pens\u00a0in our sheltered southeastern waterways last summer\u00a0with the impact that had on our marine life.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They\u00a0have every\u00a0right to be appalled\u00a0that\u00a0regulators approved the treatment without\u00a0ensuring that wild fisheries, like rock lobster and abalone, would not be\u00a0impacted.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Moreover,\u00a0Tasmanians have every reason to ask why it took months for the EPA to reveal the extent of the treatments when the regulator should have\u00a0insisted on\u00a0day-by-day\u00a0data\u00a0and\u00a0implemented\u00a0contemporaneous reporting to Tasmanians.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The multinationals that run the industry in Tasmania\u00a0want to\u00a0resume\u00a0the use of\u00a0florfenicol as\u00a0our\u00a0waters warm towards next summer and beyond.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They must be
